The benefits of choosing KBK Connect for your free blog service

Everyone knows that you choose your free blog service based on the perks that will make it worth your time to log your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, and every other minute detail of your life. The best part about KBK Connect is that aside from this list of perks, you can request additional features. Just let me know what you want!

WordPress Platform
KBK Connect blogs are built from the WordPress platform. You get all the functions of a standard free WordPress blog, allowing you to make blog posts, post-dated blog posts, static pages, and the following:

  • Save posts as drafts
  • Create public, private, and password-protected blog posts
  • Autosave of posts/pages with option of reverting to older saved version
  • Organize posts into categories and create parent/child pages
  • Add custom tags to each post
  • Allow/Disallow comments for each post and page
  • Set up multiple authors for blog posts
  • Create a custom page sort order (default is alphabetical)
  • Manage users who have registered at your blog
  • Create multiple blogs from one account
  • Import your blog from Blogger
  • Remote publishing (Atom and XML-RPC)

In addition to all the great blog features you get with the WordPress platform, the following perks have been added to all accounts to give your blog more website capabilities.

Comment Notifier
Settings > Comment Notifier
This plugin allows visitors to your blog to indicate that they would like to receive an email when a new comment is added to a particular blog post. When a new comment is added, an email will be automatically sent to the subscriber! It gets even better because this plugin has plenty of customizable features.

Zazzle Store Wishads
Set Up: Settings > Wishads For Zazzle Store
Use It: Posts > New Post
Import your Zazzle store via easy RSS feed. Simply fill in the “Wishads For Zazzle Store” data in the “Settings” menu, like your Associate ID, default store name, etc. You can easily insert products into any page or post with a simple click of a special button (shown above) that is included in the post options. Quickly and easily transform your blog into a fully-functioning online store and earn referral commissions on your own and other Zazzlers’ products! Click here for troubleshooting help.

Zazzle Search Wishads
Set Up: Settings > Wishads For Zazzle Search
Use It: Posts > New Post
Display products from the Zazzle marketplace simply by entering some desired search terms. Start by setting up the plugin with your Associate ID. Remember to check the box at the very top of the settings form to enable the plugin, otherwise it won’t work! After that, start a new page or post and click on the W2 button in the “Kitchen Sink”.

StatSurfer
Surf through your site’s statistics with ease! StatSurfer automatically collects data about visitors to your blog and displays it to you in an easy-to-understand format. A handy dashboard widget (in your blog’s administrative control panel) gives you information on visitors, page views, spiders, and feeds by date. Get more detailed stats by visiting the StatSurfer menu in your admin cp and fiddle with the settings to generate the output you need.

Access Control & Private Blog
Users > Private! Settings
Make your blog completely private by only allowing the people you have manually registered on your site (great for personal blogs, or family blogs), or allow visitors to register themselves (the perfect option for using your blog as a subscription based newsletter). Allow or restrict access to certain pages, categories, tags, posts, and more. There are many options available with this plugin. You are suggested to experiment with it and contact KBK if you need additional assistance.

Magazine Style Columns
Posts/Pages > New Post or Page
Customize your post or page content into multiple columns by inserting a simple code into the content. Create up to four columns of text or pictures. Grab the code by clicking on the “Codes” menu in the footer toolbar. You can change the width and padding (for the right side of the content) to suit your theme. This page uses these columns.

Add Me!
Appearance > Widgets > Add Users
Once a person has registered in the KBK Connect network, they can visit any blog that has this widget enabled and become a subscriber of that site.

Custom HTML Widget
Appearance > Widgets > Widgetize Any HTML
Drag this widget to your sidebar and you have endless possibilities! Enter HTML code into the widget to create a custom link menu, display pictures, insert your Zazzle blog panel – the sky’s the limit!

Page/Post Redirection
New Page/Post > Page Links To
Set up a blank page or post to redirect to a different webpage. Create a new page/post as usual, leaving the content blank (except for the title). Scroll down to “Page Links To” and enter the URL you want visitors to be taken to when they click on the page/post’s title. You can set the link to open in a new window (default is set to open in the same window) and whether or not this is a permanent redirect.

Email Subscription Service
Settings > Subscribe2
Allow fans the option of subscribing to your blog and receiving an email when you post new content. Set up your subscription service to send you a notification for changes in subscribers, use HTML stylesheets in the emails, include/exclude pages/password protected posts/private posts (great for sending information only to subscribers). Select when your subscribers will be notified of new posts – every time you create a new post, hourly, daily, or as a weekly digest. You can even set up your own email templates and exclude certain categories.

Page > New Page
Once you have updated your subscription settings, create a new page. Insert the subscription form into the page by clicking the yellow “S2″ button on the ‘kitchen sink’. You can add text before and after the form if desired. Now go back to Settings > Subscribe2 and update step 7 by selecting the new page you created.

Tools > Subscribers
Manage the people who have subscribed to your blog. Add or remove people and manually confirm email addresses of the people you know.

Mobile
Appearance > Mobile (to deactivate)
Now visitors can view your KBK Connect site with ease when viisiting via their mobile phone!

Simple Contact Form
Plugins > SI Contact Form Options
Give your blog visitors an easy way to contact you without revealing your email to them. Include up to four different contact forms within your blog. Personalize each form with several contact options.

Gallery
Create a new page/post and upload images. Insert all the uploaded images in a pre-formatted gallery with thumbnails simply by adding [ gallery ] (without spaces) to the content.

Custom Meta Tags & Description
Settings > MetaTags
Help the world find your blog by adding your own keywords and a description.

Themes, Themes, & Your Theme
Appearance > Themes
Get your website/blog up and running quickly with our many themes (site templates). Personalize the theme of your choice – just pick one of our pre-loaded templates, then customize the background and header via the “Appearance” menu. Upgrade to a Premium account to further personalize your theme.

Post Teaser
Settings > Post Teaser
Show a portion of your blog post and automatically add a link to the bottom of the “teaser” to read the full post. Choose how many words to show in the teaser, customize the link, and manage how your posts are shown in other parts of your site.

Tweet That, Facebook Like, & AddThis
Every blog features a footer toolbar that allows visitors to interact with the blog. They can post a tweet about your blog to their twitter account without leaving your blog. They can also “like” any page of your blog to facebook and share your content on their favorite social networks with an easy ‘click’.

Live Online Support
Admin CP > Help
I’ve tried to make all the information you need to use the KBK Connect features easily, but I understand that you may still need help, have questions, or just want to quickly pass along a suggestion/request. All blog owners can reach me via instant messenger from their blog’s administrative control panel. Just click “Help” in the upper right corner. If I’m online, you’ll see a little green guy on a button next to my name. Feel free to start a private chat and I’ll be supportive as possible!

Subscriber Sidebar
Settings > Subscriber Sidebar
Make it easy for visitors to follow you and your blog around the web by listing your social profiles and popular blog readers (RSS 2.0, Atom, Google, My Yahoo) in your blog’s sidebar. This widget can be personalized via the Settings menu, then added to your blog by enabling the “Sidebar” widget in the Appearance menu.

Page Link Manager
Tools > Page Links
All pages are automatically included in your main navigation. With the Page Link Manager, you can exclude the pages of your choice. This is handy for hiding confirmation pages, such as a “Message Sent” or “Thank You” page that visitors are taken to after completing a form or purchase.
