NOTE: This isn’t quite what I had in mind when I set out to write this blog, but this how the words came out as I typed. I do hope you enjoy reading it, though!
Did anyone go, or is planning to go, see The Hunger Games movie? I haven’t seen it yet, but plan to soon. My oldest daughter, Megan Adelia (pronounced with a silent L) an aspiring actress, is an extra in the movie, as a Capitol Citizen, and was seen on the big screen not once, but TWICE, during the Tribute Parade. She has been on the small screen, too, as an extra in Showtime’s Homeland. Two more TV shows may be on the horizon for her, as well. She has her sights set on moving beyond being an extra, but she knows that being an extra is a good start, so she isn’t downing that…She is just thinking positively for her future!
We, the family, haven’t seen the movie yet. Megan (she uses her middle name, Adelia, as her screen name) wants us to wait to see it with her when she is home for a visit. The wait is driving us nuts! Two of my other kids (we have 5 total) have read the books and want to see the movie NOW but, I suppose, for the sake of their sister, they will wait. I will probably have to see it more than once because the first time is liable to reduce me to tears when I see her on screen and then the rest of the movie will just be a blur because of teary eyes lol
I am very proud of my daughter for following her dream. She has wanted to be an actress for a very long time but really had no way of pursuing it. Things changed, in that respect, and she is going at it full force, and is very happy with what she has done so far and excited about what is yet to come.
This girl of mine is so very talented and creative. She is an actress, an artist, she is musically inclined, she loves to cook, she isn’t afraid to take risks (that is due to nearly losing her life twice – once as a baby because of infected chicken pox and again as a teen-ager because of fire ants that sent her into severe anaphylatic shock) or of changing her appearance if a role should call for it.
And the girl has a very beautiful smile that will just knock your socks off!
Hmm… I reckon I shouldn’t call her a girl. She is 20 years old and would probably prefer that I refer to her as a young lady or young woman but, as her mom, she will always be My Girl.
