Article Ranks Review – Part 2

February 10, 2011 · Posted in Article ranks review

As we appear to have had a Google algorithm change, I thought I’d update this case study to see how it has affected the web 2.0′s I have been backlinking with Article Ranks. (Please see Article Ranks review – Part 1 for the first part of this review.)

I’m also updating because I bought some more credits from them and have done some articles on another niche (jewelry) to test this service further. I have done no other link building to these web 2.0s.

Here’s the results so far:

Article 1: This article links to a web 2.0 in the tech niche, and is targeting two new keywords. As of today I rank #21 for keyword 1 (I was at #54 at the start of the experiment) and rank at #52 for keyword 2 (I didn’t rank at all for this keyword at the start of this experiment and had reached #18 on the 1st Feb). Clearly the article ranks backlinks are still having an effect despite the algo change – though noticeably ranking better on the keyword that already had rankings.

This article was submitted on 20th Jan – Article Ranks say they have published 48 articles – I have found the URLs of 24 do-follow articles through Googling and 1 no-followed article. Not bad.

Article 2: This article links to a web 2.0 in the Home, appliances and kitchen niche. I’m finally seeing some progress here – for keyword 1 I rank at #44 (it was’t ranked in the top 1000 at the start of the experiment), and is at #30 for keyword 2 (I was also unranked for this keyword at the start of this experiment).

This article was submitted on 24th Jan, and Article ranks say they have published 30 articles. I have found 9 do-follow urls through Googling.

Article 3: This links to a web 2.0 in the finance niche. I am at #456 for keyword 1, still unranked for keyword 2 (was unranked for both at the start of the experiment).

This article was submitted on 28th Jan – Article ranks report that they have published it 33 times and I have found 9 do-follow urls by Googling

Article 4: This links to a web 2.0 in the home, appliance and kitchen niche. It was unranked at the start of the experiment for both keywords, and am now at #510 for keyword 1 and #552 for keyword 2.

This article was submitted on 1st Feb and article ranks report that they have published 20 articles – I have found 4 do-follow urls.

Article 5: this links to a web 2.0 in the jewelry niche. It is at #63 for keyword 1 (it was at #61 at the start of the experiment) and unranked for the second keyword (at it was at the start of the experiment).

This article was submitted on 3rd Feb. Article Ranks say they have published 17 articles and I have found 7 do-follow urls, plus one url that was no-followed, and one article where my link was taken out and something else inserted.

Article 6: this links to another web 2.0 in the jewelry niche. It is at #71 for it’s first keyword (it was at #91 at the start of the experiment. It is still unranked for the second keyword.

This article was submitted on Feb 5th, and article ranks say they have published 13 articles. I have found 5 do-follow urls.

All in all, I would say that the articles are working, though they seem to need over three weeks to take effect. The algo change doesn’t seem to have done too much harm – but all my articles are spun to more than 100%, and some to over 150%.
